I really, I mean really, suck at blogging. I guess I'm just not as creative as I thought I was...or maybe I just can't express myself through words like some of you...or maybe I'm just lazy when it comes to this thing. I am impressed on a daily basis by the blogs that I follow! There are so many incredible writers out there.
My life has become a whirlwind, an exciting ride full of fun, in a constant state of challenge.
Since Dec, (WOW it has been a long time!!) I have:
Ran a 5k (PR), two half marathons (one PR), a marathon (San Diego PR!!!!!!!!!!!), a 50k (since it was my first--automatic PR ha ha) and a 10k plus adventure race with my good friend Amanda.
I have traveled to San Diego, Scotsdale, New Jersey, and will soon (weds!!) head to the west coast again for Rock and Roll Seattle Marathon. I have been finally starting to see my hard work pay off, I seem to be getting faster!!
I became a coach for Team in Training. I really enjoy it. It is wonderful to see people challenge themselves and do things they never imagine they could. It is an amazing experience for an amazing cause.
Probably most importantly and the thing that has most significantly impacted my life is my involvement with Crossfit. I joined Alamo Crossfit and let me tell you, it is like no other gym or other workout. Most people who know me know that I have gone through phases in my life where I was very physically active and other times in my life where I was a slug. Well, Crossfit has changed my life. It is more than a workout, it is a way of life. Crossfit makes you better at life. You begin to look at challenges in your life differently, you JUST know you can handle them. It has given me confidence like I have never had before. I also feel better than I ever have before. Better than when I working out for two hours a day and eating 1200 calories a day. Better than when I wasn't working out and hanging out in bars every night. Better than ever.
The first week of this month I was able to become a certified Crossfit Level 1 Trainer and I have started interning as a coach at Alamo Crossfit. It has excited me like nothing else has in a really long time. I have so much to learn so I can become the great coach that I want to be someday. It is hard for me to suck it up and take it slow, because I want to know everything and be good at everything, like...yesterday! Patience is a virtue and lets just say I am working on it.
I also started eating a paleo style diet and though it was hard for the first two weeks, I managed it for 7 whole weeks for a challenge we did at Alamo Crossfit. With a few moderate cheats...like after the marathon in San Diego I ate lots of pizza, beer and ICE CREAM! However, I will not be returning to the "old way" of eating. Food is fuel, and we are only given this one body for our whole life. We should give it the best food we can, and treat it right. I want to be fit, healthy and strong for the rest of my life. No more slug Heidi. No more calorie restricted Heidi. Clean eating, heavy lifting Heidi. It is a liberating way to eat, believe it or not.
My DH is well and he is as fabulous and supportive as ever. We celebrated two years of marriage last month. He's really great. I am lucky to have him. I am lucky he puts up with me and my wacky ways, though when I told him about the Paleo diet I think he thought I had LOST it. But he really enjoys our new way of eating and has even lost 10 pounds.
The 3 children are well also. I LOVE THEM!! Still furry, (though shaved) and spoiled as hell. What other way is there to be when you're a lab in the Patterson house? :)
Maybe I'll get back into the blogging thing. Maybe not. I have so many adventures in my life that sometimes I feel like my head is spinning.

At the end of my life I want to look back with no regrets. Not thinking about the things I should have done. I want to think back with a smile about all my adventures.
I really enjoy reading about everyone elses adventures so I may continue to lurk...

Jingle Bell baby!
The first time I've ever placed in a race.
So it was "only" a 5k.
So it was "only" in New Braunfels.
I am SO happy!
My time was slower that last years by 31 seconds. Dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmit!
And, at the end of the race, I think I could have ran faster. It was drizzly and misty and the road were slick. Excuses, excuses...time for more racing!
I think I'm addicted!
I already bought a 2010 calendar and have been all my different online racing websites to find races...
Here's my tentative schedule:
Jan 4-11th: SKI TRIP!! 5 days of skiing baby! Steamboat or bust!!
Jan 24th: 3M Half Marathon, Austin Texas Looking for a new half PR!
Feb 12th: Cupid's 10k nighttime trail run, and maybe another 5k...maybe this 8 miler...
March: Hmm...ZOOMA for sure...and maybe ONE of these!??!?!? an ultra?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?
We'll see...time will tell!!
